Desecration of Quran Is A Criminal Act, Palestinian Scholar Says
The move by Zionist settlers to tear up pages of the Quran and violate the sanctities of mosques is an unbearable crime, Mahmoud al-Shajarawi said.
The scholar described it as an attack on all Muslims in the world and urged the entire Muslim Ummah to support their religion and their sanctities.
Al-Shajarawi, who is a member of the International Union for Muslim Scholars, called on Arab and Muslim nations to adopt a serious stance against the Zionist occupiers and Israeli settlers’ crimes.
He also criticized certain Arab governments for turning a blind eye to these crimes and pursuing normalization of ties with the occupation regime.
Last week, security cameras captured an Israeli settler with a dog tearing pages from Quran and throwing them on the ground outside a mosque in the Palestinian village in the Occupied West Bank.
The incident reportedly took place during the riots by Israeli settlers in the West Bank village of Orif on Wednesday.
There have also been growing attacks by Israel and its settlers on mosques and their sanctity.
