Speaking at a meeting of the council on Monday evening, Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati said elections have great significance in the Islamic Establishment of Iran.
Everyone should feel sensitive about the elections that determine the future of the country and contribute to holding them magnificently, he added.
The cleric also noted that the Constitutional Council will carry out the process of vetting the candidates with utmost care.
Iran’s presidential election will be held simultaneously with city council and midterm parliamentary and Assembly of Experts elections in June.
Candidates hoping to run in the next elections will apply for approval and the final list is to be announced by the Constitutional Council in early June.
