A conference on religions is planned to be held in Iraq on August 12.

The event will be attended by scholars of different Islamic and Christian sects, Noon website reported.
It is aimed at investigating ways to enhance unity and promote the real image of Islam.
Sheikh Ali al-Khatib, deputy of Iraq's Shia Awqaf Department, and Sheikh Khalid al-Mala, head of the country's Sunni scholars society, in a meeting this week discussed organizing the conference.
They also discussed the latest developments in Iraq, including the crimes committed by the so-called Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) Takfiri group in the northern regions of the country.
The ISIL Takfiri militants took control of the city of Mosul on June 10, vowing to continue their raid towards Baghdad.
Soldiers of the Iraqi army have been engaged in heavy fighting with the militants on different fronts and have so far been able to push back militants in several areas.
