IQNA – José Manuel Ferreira de Morais, the Portuguese coach of Iran’s Sepahan SC, confirmed that he has converted to Islam.

He made the announcement while speaking at a press conference on Friday after one of Sepahan’s matches.

One reporter asked Morais about rumors about his conversion to Islam. The 58-year-old coach said, “Yes, I changed with honor … already.”

Meanwhile, the Varzesh3 sports news website offered further details about the conversion. According to the report, Morais reached out to the club’s managers, expressing his interest in Islam and asking them to help them with the conversion process.

The cultural department of the club offered consultations to the coach and he finally said the Shahada in the presence of a cleric, converting to Shia Islam, the report said.
