PARIS (IQNA) – The Pessac Mosque in Girone, France, was vandalized with anti-Muslim and Islamophobic graffiti earlier this month, causing fear and frustration among the local Muslim community.

This was the fourth time in less than two years that the same mosque was attacked with hateful messages.

The graffiti included threats such as "France for the French" and "Your coffins or your suitcases", as well as the Crosses of Lorraine, a symbol associated with some far-right groups in France who claim that Muslims are "invading France", Morocco World News reported.

Abdrourahmane Ridouane, the president of the mosque's association, said that the threat was very clear and that he filed a complaint against the perpetrators.

However, he also criticized the "nonchalance and disinterest" of the French authorities, who did not take any action or provide any security for the mosque.

Ridouane said that the mosque had to organize its own protection system, with volunteers wearing yellow vests guarding the door during prayers.

The Pessac Mosque is not the only one that has faced Islamophobic vandalism in France. Many other mosques, cemeteries, and businesses owned by Muslims have been targeted by racist attacks, especially on social media, in recent years.

Meanwhile, Islamophobic incidents have surged in Western countries following the Israeli attacks on the besieged Gaza Strip since October 7 that has killed more than 11,500 people, mostly women and children.
