Oman Awqaf Minister Underlines Role of Quran Memorizers in Islamic Societies

TEHRAN (IQNA) – The Awqaf and religious affairs minister of Oman highlighted the important role that Quran memorizers play in Islamic societies and their progress.

Mohamed Said Khalfan al-Mamari made the remark in an address to a ceremony held to honor women Quran memorizers in Ad Dakhiliyah Governorate of the country.

He said the love for the Quran originates from the belief that the Holy Book is the constitution of the Islamic Ummah, Oman Al-Yawm reported.

He added that Oman has made extensive efforts to promote the Quran and its teaching among different generations and that the Awqaf ministry seeks to foster the Quranic teachings among the youths.

Al-Mamari also lauded the activities of Quranic schools in Ad Dakhiliyah Governorate and hailed the keenness of the people, especially women, on learning the Quran.

Ahmed al-Harethi, director of the governorate’s Awqaf department also addressed the ceremony, saying the Holy Quran is a light that never goes off and a source of goodness in this world and the next.

He also noted that 112 Quran schools teach the Quran to over 7,100 students in the governorate.

During the ceremony, 50 women who have learned the Quran by heart and 15 teachers who helped them in memorization of the Holy Book were honored.
