Turkey Seeks Extradition of Man Who Desecrated Quran
TEHRAN (IQNA) – Turkey has launched proceedings to extradite a man who desecrated the Quran and has fled to Russia.
The Turkish man, named Ibrahim Atabi, recently released a footage on social media showing his tearing pages from a copy of the Holy Book, turkey-breaking.com website reported.
He then fled to Russian following a backlash over his offensive move.
Now Turkey’s General Directorate of Security is in consultation with Moscow on his extradition.
The directorate said the man has committed 11 crimes and will be returned to Turkey and put on trial.
Atabi’s offensive move has angered the public in Turkey, with many calling for his prosecution.
