KUALA LUMPUR (IQNA) – Malaysia’s 61st international Quran competition will officially start in a ceremony on Monday evening in Kuala Lumpur.

According to IQNA dispatches, before the opening ceremony, the contenders will take a preliminary exam and then a draw will be held to decide each participant’s turn and what parts of the Quran they will recite.

The contest is held in two categories of Quran recitation and memorization for men and women.

Iran’s representative is Hadi Movahen Amin. He competes in the category of Quran recitation.

Iranian Quran master Hadi Rahimi is accompanying Movahed Amin in the contest as a guide.

Movahed Amin came first in Croatia’s international Quran competition two years ago.

Malaysia’s Quranic event is world’s oldest international Quran competition.

It is officially named the “International Al Quran Recital and Memorisation Assembly”.

Last year, it was held with the participation of Quran reciters and memorizers from 56 countries.

There were a total of 53 Qaris and 25 Quran memorizers competing in the two sections (for men and women).
