World Council of Those Serving Quran to Be Established in Egypt

TEHRAN (IQNA) – A world council of those serving the Quran is planned to be founded in Egypt, the North African country’s Awqaf minister said.

 

Mohammed Mukhtar Goma made the announcement at the 25th international Quran competition of Egypt in Cairo, adding that those attending and serving at the competition’s panel of judges will contribute to the establishment of the council.

He said it will include Quran experts and other scholars from Egypt and other countries.

More details about the council will be made public after the end of the competition, the official went on to say.

The international contest is annually organized by the North African country’s Awqaf Ministry.

The 25th edition of the international Quranic event, whose motto is “Arab Quds” in solidarity with the holy city, kicked off on Saturday, March 24, and will run until Thursday, March 29.

Representatives of 50 countries are competing in different categories of the contest.
