70 Countries Expected at Egypt Int’l Quran Contest

TEHRAN (IQNA) – Representatives of 70 countries are expected to take part in Egypt’s upcoming international Quran competition.

  

Ashraf Fahmi, an official with the North African country’s Awqaf ministry said the contenders will be from Muslim and Arab as well as European and Southeast Asian countries, vetogate website reported.

He added that a panel of judges comprising ten Quran experts from Arab countries will evaluate the performance of the participants.  

The 25th edition of Egypt’s international Holy Quran competition is slated to kick off in the capital, Cairo, on March 24.

It will be held in different categories, including Quran memorization, Tarteel recitation and interpretation of the Quran.

In solidarity with the holy city of Quds (Jerusalem), the motto of this year’s Quranic event is “Arabian Quds”.
